Shaila Bhattacharyya

Dr Shaila Bhattacharyya is a senior pediatric endocrinologist currently working at Manipal Hospital and Shivajyoti Clinic at Bengaluru, India. Dr Shaila completed her postgraduation in pediatrics at JJM Medical College, Davanagere, Karnataka, her alma mater where she is currently working as Visiting professor in the department of pediatrics.
She completed her DM (Doctorate of Medicine) in Endocrinology at the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India. She is currently the president of the Indian Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology (ISPAE). She has 30 years of clinical experience and has organized a highly successful ISPAE 2013 meeting along with ISPAE PET fellows’ school at Bengaluru in 2013. She has several publications to her credit and has authored chapters in endocrine and pediatric textbooks.

She is also heavily involved in charity work through several not-for-profit organizations to help economically deprived children suffering from pediatric endocrine disorders and diabetes. She has initiated a Fellowship programme in Paediatric Endocrinology at Manipal Hospital under the Manipal Academy of Higher Education at Bangalore. Her main areas of interest are Growth hormone deficiency, Congenital adrenal hyperplasia and Type 1 DM.

Ganesh Jevalikar

Dr Ganesh Jevalikar is a pediatric endocrinologist currently working at Max Healthcare, Delhi, and Gurugram in India. He completed his MD in pediatrics from Grant Medical College, Mumbai, and worked as a lecturer in pediatrics for two years. Subsequently, he received his training in pediatric endocrinology from Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, India under the mentorship of Prof Vijayalakshmi Bhatia and Prof Preeti Dabadghao. He has over 12 years of clinical experience in pediatric endocrinology, 18 Pubmed indexed publications, and several book chapters authored by him. He has been involved in teaching programs for pediatric postgraduates and endocrinology training programs of the National Board of Examinations, India. His area of research interest includes the classification of diabetes types in children and young adults and the use of diabetes technology in type 1 diabetes. His centre has been one of the most important contributors to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) registry of type 1 diabetes and is currently a part of a trial for a transition of pediatric type 1 diabetes to adult healthcare systems and CARE cohort in establishing a cohort of youth onset diabetes from the National Capital Region of India. He has been the organizing secretary of ISPAE 2015, the 4th biennial meeting of the Indian Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology at Gurugram and is currently serving as the secretary-treasurer of ISPAE. He is also an associate editor for the newsletter of the Global Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes.
