Global Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes

 

Aman Pulungan

Aman Pulungan is the President of Indonesian Pediatric Society, Head of Endocrinology division Child Health department Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital/Faculty of Medicine University of Indonesia, Committee for medical specialist deployment MOH Republic of Indonesia, President-Elect of Asia Pacific Pediatric Association, holds a position on the Standing Committee oInternational Pediatric Association, and past President of Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society, NCD Child Governing Council. For the past years he has been involved in many programs for diabetes in Indonesia and also in the region, among others, as the project leader for the World Diabetes Foundation DM type 1 in Indonesia, and member of the advisory board of the Physician International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes.
He initiated the formation of IKADAR, an organisation for DM Families including patients, doctors and Educators. He took important roles in the formation of KAHAKI (Foundation for Congenital Adrenal hyperplasia Families), Fosteo (Families Forum for Osteogenesis Imperfecta), and TSI (Turner Society Indonesia). He is a member of organisations such as APPES, ESPE, ISPAD, International Fellow of American Academy of Pediatrics, GPED, DOHAD Society, Endocrine Society, and Editorial board of International Journal of Pediatric Endocrinology.

Jean-Pierre Chanoine

Dr. Chanoine is a Pediatrician who graduated from Belgium in 1982. He joined the University of British Columbia in 1998 as Clinical Professor and Head of the Endocrinology and Diabetes Unit at BC Children’s Hospital. His previous experience includes a fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, USA; Pediatric Endocrinologist at Hôpital des Enfants Reine Fabiola in Brussels; and Medical Director for Novo Nordisk Belgium.
He is increasingly active in Global Health projects in the field of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes in resource-constrained settings. Dr Chanoine is presently Secretary General of Global Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (www.globalpedendo.org), an international non-profit organization that aims at promoting Pediatric Endocrine care in low-income countries.

Dr Chanoine’s research is also focusing on the management of childhood overweight. Dr Chanoine is the principal investigator of “Healthy Buddies”, a peer-led curriculum aiming at preventing the development of overweight in elementary school children and initiated the LiGHT project (Living Green, Healthy and Thrifty).
